  • New Zealand weather can be very unpredictable. With the Hunting Season running from February to early December, you may be hunting in a varied range of conditions.

    Below is a recommend gear list for a weekend stay. Keep in mind we recommend you hunt in layered clothing and to avoid bulky / heavy clothes:

    • Bed Linen/ Sleeping Bags

    • 2 pairs hunting trousers – light to medium weight

    • 2 shirts – 1 light and 1 medium weight

    • 4 pairs hunting socks

    • 2 sets polyprop shirt and pants

    • Light weight jacket

    • 1 warm hunting jacket

    • 1 set of high quality, light weight and breathable rain gear (Pants and Jacket)

    • 1 pair waterproof gloves

    • 1 warm hat or cap

    • 1 pair hunting boots (Please clean well before bringing over)

    • Binoculars

    • Day Pack

    • Camera

    • Sunglasses

    • Bipod will be handy but not essential

    If bringing your own rifle, bring two packets of ammunition, preferably what your gun is shot in with. We do not allow thermal imaging equipment to be used in Ohana Bay.

    Note: Your clothes will be washed at the lodge, when required.

  • We have a limited number of rifles available for use, so we recommend bringing your own to ensure you have the equipment you prefer.

    You are welcome to bring your own bow, as this perfect place for bow-hunting as well.

  • Our hunts are not specifically designed for children. However, we offer private tours tailored to family groups or friends traveling together. If you’d like to plan a family-friendly adventure, let us know, and we’ll work with you to create the perfect experience. No pets are allowed.

  • Yes, we can arrange this for you, please let us know ahead of time when booking so we can orangise transporting your goods to the Butcher and Taxidermist in Nelson.
